Note from the Publisher - June 2008

Summertime Salutations! Isn’t this time of the year the best? Enjoying nice warm days, yet cool nights. It’s the perfect time for a weekend get-away, or longer if you can “get away” with it. This month, we feature Tybee Island. At approximately 4 ½ hours from the south side, Tybee is just a short drive and less than a tank of gas away. Chances are that you already know of Tybee Island located just east of Savannah, and you may have even visited it. Hopefully, this month’s “Taking in Tybee Island” feature gives you a little more on Tybee’s character and charm, even if you’re a frequent visitor. I gathered the younger 2 of our 4 kids and headed to Tybee for a more educational experience than our usual family vacation. Initially, this educational direction was probably to alleviate underlying guilt-ridden feelings from taking them out of school. As the trip unfolded, both the kids and I gained knowledge and appreciation, thoroughly enjoying connecting a little more with one another and with the Tybee Island locals. In addition to Tybee, check out National Science Center’s Ft. Discovery in Augusta, experience the thrills and ride the rails with Thomas the Tank Engine at Six Flags Over Georgia, and for even closer to home —Dixieland Fun Park. We share the “Story of Father’s Day,” so you can be sure to impress the important dads in your life with the origins of their special day. Next month, we will feature furry friends around the area. Please remember to tell our advertisers you saw them in “Just 4 Kids” and . . .Make It A Great Month.
