Don’t worry; this is not a photo of the new publisher of Just 4 Kids. We are just giving you another reason to smile–and a chance to win, this month, with our “LOST DOG” promotion. Looking for a particular photo for this issue, I came across this shot from last Christmas, and burst out laughing. My oldest daughter was still recovering from back surgery only one week earlier, so, the other 3 children were trying to be quiet and have a subdued Christmas morning with her. When my youngest daughter put her new Cinderella wig on our dog, we all broke out laughing, hysterically. It was the first time since surgery, I saw my daughter really laugh. That, of course, was my best gift. I remember looking at the words on the kitchen wall behind her, “Live, Laugh, Love” and knowing this is, simply put, what life is all about. These old and new signs, sayings, and adages pick us up from time to time. Just last week when faced with a new challenge, I noticed the back of my oldest son’s t-shirt, “Success is getting knocked down 9 times and getting up 10.” Again, this gave me the encouragement I needed at the time. From new quotes like “You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith” to adages derived from age-old scriptures like “The Truth will set you free.” Call me old-fashioned, but from adages to scripture, they give us inspiration and never become old clichés. Here’s another new one I came across as a title of a book, “Put your big girl panties on and deal with it.” I kind of like that one, too.
